Six Sentence Sunday – 6/17

Since it’s Father’s Day and one of my books has a character that once had a very special bond with her father before his murder, thought I’d share a snippet from my award-winning futuristic romance, Midnight’s Ghost (one of my few non-erotic titles):

Nothing, short of death, was going to separate me from my holowatch since it had been a gift from my father. Considering it was the last time I saw him alive, it was a piece I held close to my heart.
“It’s my way of hanging on to him, Wallace,” I said quietly, staring out at nothing in particular.
“Careful, someone may see that crack in your kick ass, tough girl exterior.”
I snorted and pushed aside thoughts of my father and his untimely death. “Lying naked with you on the deck of my engine room isn’t enough to shatter that image?”

For those new to this, the rules are simple:

1) pick a project – a current Work in Progress, contracted work or even something readers can buy if you’re published

2) pick six sentences

3) post ‘em on Sunday

  1. I love this story, fantastic six for father’s day, hope your family is celebrating in style.

  2. Such a nice moment to get a glimpse inside her character and then I like how you change the tone with that last sentence.
