Silver Phoenix Labs: Who Doesn’t Love Music?

splFor a special treat today at the Lab, Cate Peace is speaking my language – Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I played the crap of this game when it first released. I’m not kidding, I lost HOURS and HOURS to this game. But let Cate tell you all about it…

~*~

As a major music fiend (read: Band geek), I am always more than happy to try video games where music plays a central role, especially when it’s integrated as perfectly as it is in Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Number one, I had no idea that ocarinas were real—and then later on I saw a commercial for a guy playing ocarina and decided I had to have one—and number two, the songs are GORGEOUS.

See?

These aren’t generic songs. They’re not just six notes. Of the twelve, half are glorious orchestral movements that are beautiful and moving and I could listen to them all the time (two of them are ringtones on my phone—Sheik’s theme and Song of Storms. That’ll be on the test later 😉 ) while the other six are used throughout the game as themes and useful songs.

Recently, I discovered the St. Louis Ocarina Trio and lost an entire day to the joys of listening to Legend of Zelda songs on ocarina.

Keep in mind, this game came out in 1998, and sixteen years later people still love this music.

So what does this lovely ramble have to do with anything? Well, as it happens, my newest 1Night Stand from Decadent Publishing releases on 3/21, and while the musician involved doesn’t play ocarina, he’s a hardcore music lover, and I’m pretty sure he listens to Zelda music in his spare time 😉

To celebrate Complete Me’s release, I’m hosting a giveaway on every blog I’m visiting. The appropriate info will be below the blurb. Here’s what’s up for grabs: a $25 iTunes gift card (so you can go buy Zelda music, of course), a free copy of Complete Me when it releases, and a Complete Me-inspired t-shirt of your choice!

CP_Complete Me_SMA romance author who needs to love….

Best-selling romance author Claire Ergleston confines her passions to the pages of her books. When she receives a 1Night Stand date ‘to give her something to talk about in interviews,’ can she let herself be swept away?

A rock star who needs to let go….

The past has a chokehold on former rock star Ty Krause. Instead of killer tunes, he kills time writing passable songs for a British boy band and his nights wishing he had the balls to say goodbye. In a last ditch effort, he signs up for 1Night Stand, thinking that a night of no-strings-attached sex will help him break the leash of his past.

From the moment Claire and Ty meet, sparks fly—but can they overcome their pasts or will their potential love story end on a sour note?

About the author:

Catherine Peace has been telling stories for as long as she could remember. Maybe even from the womb; no one knows for sure. Now, she writes delightful romances with enough spice to make Emeril happy when not masquerading as a normal person at the day job.
