Brain Farts & Reader Fails

I haven’t fallen off the face of the Earth, I swear. I’ve been busy putting the finishing touching on my sci-fi romance (which I just finished those last touches on last night) so I could get it off for submission and have another story waiting in the wings for me to start editing. For those that don’t know what I classify the difference as:

Revisions = I think something doesn’t work

Edit = I had a brain fart or my fingers and brain weren’t communicating very well

So, in addition, I had an idea for a quickie story I jotted notes down for last night. The brain – she doesn’t want to stop. I know better than to complain however and because of all of this, my reading has taken a severe beating. I won a copy of No Reservations by Megan Hart & Lauren Dane from Lauren Dane herself well over a month ago and I’m just getting time to sit down and read it. Normally, I’m beating down the bookstore’s front door the day a new J D Robb …in Death book is released and I’ve not gotten a chance to read that one either. It’s been sitting on my nightstand taunting me. Ava Gray’s Skin Game and Deborah Cooke’s Winter’s Kiss are there as well. Needless to say, I’ve had massive amounts of reader FAIL this entire month. But, I was one of the early pre-buyers of Barnes & Noble’s nook eReader, so I will have mine in my hands at the first part of December. While that won’t help me with my already purchased books, I hope it will help me keep up after.

Now that I’m done rambling about my shortcomings as a reader,  there’s another Author Blog Tour in the works. If any of you were around for the Trick or Treat Blog Tour for Halloween, you’ll remember what a great time was had, great bodies were gazed upon and books were given away. I’ll have more details when they’re available.

Is It Productive if My Brain Hurts and It’s Not Because of the Claws?

It’s been a productive week this week, despite my utter lack of motivation. The past few weeks of running around seem to have caught up with me recently and guh, the brain – she pains me. But in the past few days I’ve knocked out three chapters of editing work. I hope to get in another chapter tonight but the paying job worked my brain overtime today, so we’ll see how that pans out.

Starting to plan how to work out next week. Sadly, yes, I plan for such a thing as going to the movies. Especially when it’s something that I’ve been waiting to see for over a year. (the Wolverine movie for those of you not in the know) One of the movie theatres around here is advertising a midnight showing next week but with kiddo, hubby and I can’t go. I don’t have anyone else to go with, so right now, we’re planning to get off early on Friday and go. Though, that’s not a change from the previous X-Men movies; that’s what we’ve done. To be honest, I’m going in with really low expectations. I figure that way; even if it sucks – I’ll only be so disappointed. I am expecting nearly two hours of eye candy however, based on the trailers – that should be just fine.

I have started scribbling notes and whole sections of writing for the next thing that I’m working on. A section that I sketched out yesterday actually involved my main character in a scene with a character from the story I’m editing. These books are four books apart from each other and is the first time they’ve met. It was actually a bit odd to sketch out the conversation. Fun – but odd.

I’ve also decided that it’s time to add to the tattoo collection. Have to just work out the design that’s in my head now. I can’t draw to save my life, so I’ll have to be able to articulate it to the artist.

Should be an adventure.

Oh! And today’s WiP offering:

The rich blue sky that had dominated the afternoon was slowly slipping away, succumbing to the fiery wash of sunset. My focus was not on the dazzling display in the sky but instead on the figure that stood out on the balcony, watching the sun set.

Just When You Thought It Was Safe

Bit of site update stuff – added a music page (so everyone can laugh and point fingers at my sucky eclectic taste in music) , added a few questions I answerd in the FAQ’s I’m building on the About page and made one of the final updates to the word count for what I’ve been working on, A Flash of Dark.

blmsi005546I’d post more than that but I think I fried my brains with all the writing I did this weekend to get that finished up. Or, it was all the movies I watched while doing it. *g*

One of the author’s books I read as a teenager is releasing another book in the series this week. L. J. Smith is continuing the series she started in the early 90′s with Damon’s story. This could prove interesting.
