I’m not your typical girl. In addition to being a writer, I’m also a geek. (Yes, admitting it is the first step, I know, I know.) But what it means is that I can hold my own with computers, I have to – I’m working a Bachelor of Science for computers.
It means that I love comic books; up until a few years ago, I sill read & collected them. My only enemy with that one is time – as in: not enough of it. But I still have a fairly extensive collection of X-Men comic books carefully packaged away in storage. Growing up, I always seemed to be one of the few girls that liked Wolverine. I didn’t let it deter me, every one is entitled to their opinion. As with most stories I’m drawn to, comic books being no exception, I love to see elements of romance. If you really must know, I’m an big advocate of the pairing of Wolverine & Jean. Yup – I’m a redshipper.

Being a girl geek means I love movies; action & adventure movies being my favorite. My childhood was Star Wars, Star Trek and Indian Jones. That doesn’t mean I’ll turn my nose up to anything that doesn’t fit in those categories, far from it. Indie, comedy, horror, thriller – everything that there is: I’ll watch. This one is like a sickness – I’ve taken off early from work on more than one occasion just to see certain movies on opening day.
Geek girliness even extends into books. Anything that holds my interest and I’ll read it, though I do have a vested interest in certain genres. I’m no snob when it comes to a story however. Grab me on the first page and you’ll have me for life.
And let’s not forget about video games. They are a huge plus in my household and if I’ve got the time, you’ll find me tapping away at the controller. Lately, it’s all I can do to keep from getting my ass handed to me by my kid in Guitar Hero Aerosmith.
