State of Sara

I haven’t done this in a while, so I’d thought I share a bit on how things are going and where they’re going.

My first science fiction romance, Midnight’s Ghost, will be released on May 10 (just a short ten days from now) from Liquid Silver Books. I’ll be doing some promotional work to coincide with the release, so keep an eye out in the coming weeks for that. In fact, on Monday – 5/3 – I’ll be posting the entire first chapter of Midnight’s Ghost. Be sure to stop back by and see what sort of action/adventure/science fiction/hot romance you’re in store for.

Edits are currently in progress for the second Rebirth book, Blood Fever. I’ve got a blurb all ready to go (though it’s still pre-edits) and waiting on a few things before I post that. However, I will say those who got attached to Stark & Ana in Flash of Dark, have no fear, they will return – in time. Blood Fever deals with a different set of characters and they are still attached with events set in motion in Flash of Dark (you can actually think of it as a mini-arc since the next book will be these characters as well). Oh and if there wasn’t enough vampire action in Flash of Dark for you, don’t worry, Blood Fever will make up for it in spades. Trust me. ;)

Currently, I’m hard at work on the next Star Runner book, Midnight’s Shadow, with the third Rebirth book hot on its heels. That third book has a name, but I’m waiting until I get more in-depth with working on it before I announce anything. Plus, I have something else in the works – something completely different – but I’m waiting on that as well.

Needless to say, there’s a lot of waiting right now. :D

Don’t forget to stop back by tomorrow for Six Sentence Sunday – I’ll be posting six sentences from Midnight’s Shadow as a teaser.

Blood Fever – Rebirth #2

Sometimes, as most writers will tell you, the first manuscript you write never gets to see the light of day. To be honest, my very first few attempts at full-length novels are buried on my hard drive and there they shall stay. They are totally incomplete and are filled with just about every cliche in the book – haha. But that’s okay, I’m smart enough to realize not everything I write is worthy of publication. I wrote for years without any intention of ever publishing, so believe me, there are plenty of that type of stuff on my computers hard drive just hanging out. They have little parties occasionally, but I’ve gotten really good at ignoring them. ;)

However, there are times when writers get to defy their own expectations. In May 2008, I asked myself a question. A simple one really and I bet I wasn’t the first to ask it. I don’t know what anyone else said, but my answer set me on a path. One five years ago, I would have told you didn’t exist.

Two years worth of blood, sweat, cursing, tears, revisions, chops, cuts and countless other things – I am happy to announce that the very first manuscript I ever completed fully will get to see the light of day after all.

I am very pleased to announce Book #2 in the Rebirth series, Blood Fever, will be published by Liquid Silver Books later this year.

Six Sentence Sunday – 3/21

Yet again this week, I had fresh edits on my sci-fi but have chosen to go with something else. There was a bit of excitement around these parts early last week and I’ll make a formal announcement about that in a few days. In the meantime…enjoy. ;)

I heard the rumble long before I saw him. It was deep and throaty, roaring like a giant beast that was impatient with the knowledge it was about to be set free. He pulled the car to a stop in front of me and smiled broadly over the roof of the sports car.
This is what I get, what I deserved, for not telling him earlier we just needed to stick with the rust bucket that had gotten us this far.
“You stole a Shelby,” I stated, eyeing the neon apple green paint job on the brand new, fully tricked out Mustang.
So much for inconspicuous.

For those new to this, the rules are simple:

1) pick a project – a current Work in Progress, contracted work or even something readers can buy
2) pick six sentences
3) post ‘em on Sunday
